life beyond 40 ....

While we was away a week or so ago I 'celebrated' my 40th birthday, and with that there have been quite a few changes in my life ...

The biggest change is that I have been made redundant from my day job, so I am now totally and completely a freelancer - my own boss. Mixed feelings, but I know in the long run, no matter what happens I will come out the other end stronger and hopefully more creatively fulfilled.

Anyway - here is a collection of images from our break in Yorkshire.

On my birthday we went on the 'Eye on the Bay' - a big wheel on Bridlington's seafront - I am scared of heights so I found it a little (to put it mildly) scary ...

In the garden of the cottage we rent in Yorkshire we often see various wild animals - this time it was stoats - not a great pic - but you get the idea - they were running around like maniacs ...

Bempton cliffs seen from Speeton beach - one of the most beautiful views in the world (imho) ...

We had a trip on the North York Moors Railway as a pre birthday treat, we went from Pickering to Grosmont, where we stopped for a little picnic on the hill overlooking Grosmont, then we travelled back. It was a lovely day out ...

... a view near Grosmont ...

We also visited Sewerby Hall and Gardens, where there is a small zoo and other animals in large paddocks. I saw this sweet scene in one of the paddocks ...

and this little wallaby too ...

happy birthday gail. looks like you had a wonderful time. the picture of the stoat is very good! can be difficult to catch them on film when they are running around. dx.

Thanks for visiting Tara & Deb and thanks so much for the replies and birthday wishes.

Deb the stoat was very difficult to catch in a photo - they were running around like mad and in and out of the hedge, so I just clicked away and ended up with a few recognisable shots ;-)

It's very bad luck about your job - but sometimes things turn out for the best. I hope so. Forty is very good indeed, welcome to the club!

(I am totally jealous of your stoat picture!)

Gretel - thanks for the visit - it's usually me who's jealous of your pictures and tales of accounts with wildlife ... ;-)

Thanks too for all the encouragement - it's really appreciated.

Happy Birthday Gail! It looks like you had a good time on holiday.
Good luck with your freelancing. Sometimes these things are a blessing in disguise, and I'm sure you'll do well. x

Happy birthday Gail:¬)

You don't do things by halves do you, joining both the 40 year old and freelance clubs at once;¬) One is daunting the other exciting. I'll leave you to decide which is which:¬)

Thanks Chris - at the moment both seem daunting to me - and both were forced on me ... I saw both coming though ;-)

no worries about being 40 I hope! I'm about to be 42 in a few days!- thank you by the way for your comment on my wordpress blog ages ago - I'm still keeping up with that and only just learning how to use this one! I find it difficult to find blogs on this one!
